Boating on Indian Lake

Indian Lake, New York is one of the quietest lakes in the Adirondacks that allow motorboats. It is about 14 miles long and 1/2 mile at its widest point. On any given day, it has a few boats on the water at a time. On a busy weekend like the 4th of July, there may be up to 20 boats on the lake.

However, the lake could get choppy when the wind picks up. There had been white caps throughout the lake except for the northern cove by the dam. That area is usually great for water skiing as it is nicely protected from the wind.

Hiking Baldface Mountain

Great mixture of canoeing and hiking. This Adirondack trail is only accessible by water. The hike is beginner level with a moderate incline and about 1 1/2 miles long. The view at the top is breath taking. A beautiful panoramic view of Indian Lake stretching almost 14 miles long. It is a great place for a picnic on a summer day. Autumn is great for this trail as the mountains are filled with colors reaching the horizon.
