For Memorial Day weekend, we procrastinated so all campsites had been taken. So we found the campgrounds at Laguna Seca Recreational Area near Monterey, California was the only place available and decided to try it. It turned out to be quite the find for mountain bikers. The area includes 900 acres of single track biking going up and down some fun hills. At one point on the trail, I hit a sand pit at the bottom of the hill and got all tangled up trying to down shift, turn and crank the pedals. I did not get close to covering all the trails but during the entire 1 1/2 hour ride, I did not encounter another rider except for my riding buddy. It is quite the hidden gem.
